ARTWAERK is an independent gallery in central Copenhagen devoted to photography as fine art. We show a small number of exhibitions each year — four to five — chosen slowly and shown for six weeks or more, because photographs reward time.

Our programme is rooted in the Nordic photographic tradition: large-format landscape work, architectural studies, and the quiet documentary strain that runs from Kruse to the present day. Alongside the exhibitions we keep a small bookshop of rare and out-of-print photo monographs.

Admission is free. The gallery occupies the ground floor of a converted 1890s warehouse, with a single skylit hall hung sparsely — one wall, one body of work.
